Phase Tw0: Al Rayan Garden Mall Project
The proposed Al Rayan Garden Mall will be constructed on site 20 minutes from Hargeisa city centre and adjacent to Firdawsa Villas. The Mall which is currently in the early stages of design and development, is expected to be the biggest in the whole Somali peninsula with a total of 35,000 metre squares of shopping and relaxation space.

will have widest variety of shops that will include international brands outlets, restaurants, cafes, gaming, supermarket and much more. At the core of the design and layout are luxury, nature and comfort. Every effort will be taken to ensure the Mall makes as minimal carbon footprints as possible. This will be achieved through use of renewables such as solar and reduced need of artificial light and cooling system.
The proposed development will feature a mezzanine and public spaces along a new pedestrianised street with Piazza cafes on both sides, small garden and an open plan carpark with its own gas station, garage and car wash facility.
For a long time, a lot of people have been complaining of the lack of publicly owned commercial projects in Somaliland. This is will be a first major project in Somaliland where all are invited to participate through share ownership. As a part of an integrated project in the area, Al Rayan Garden Mall is expected to play a central role in the development of modern retail sector and new high market area that will include amongst others the proposed gated Firdawsa Vilas.
There are two key routes to participate in the project:
One:
- as an equity shareholder. The equity shareholder is the one who buys a number of shares in the project whilst the leaseholder is one who purchase a leasehold of a premise in the Mall.
Two: - as leaseholder. The premises will be leased to retailers and restauranteurs on behalf of the equity shareholders. If you are a retailer or a startup, this will be a golden opportunity to grab a leasehold before their prices go off the roof.
Al Rayan is currently in the process of developing a brochure for the project. This is expected to be finalised in early May, 2021.
